College students from around the country research, plan, and prepare themselves for one week that comes every year. This is not in referral to finals week, but Spring Break. Students make plenty of preparations so that that one week will be fun filled and action packed.
This is the case for Chris Wiese, a sophomore at the University of Mississippi. He is currently trying to plan how he will spend his vacation time. He has spent the last two breaks in Panama City and would like to break that tradition this spring break.
Wiese, a native of St. Louis, Missouri, has experienced his fair share of interesting Spring Breaks. At 12-years-old, Wiese took a vacation to Jamaica with his family. There he climbed Dunns River Falls, the largest waterfall in Jamaica. “Jumping into the ocean at the end was pretty amazing,” says Wiese.
Wiese endured brief humiliation during that trip while dancing to the Baha Men’s one hit wonder, “Who Let The Dogs Out.” “I jumped on stage, took my shirt off, and just started dancing,” recalls an embarrassed Wiese. “I probably wont do that again,” he concluded.
Hawaii has also been a travel destination over Spring Break for Wiese and his family. This trip was much more leisurely for 14-year-old Wiese, who enjoyed virgin strawberry daiquiris, parasailing, water skiing, and a trip on a glass bottom boat.
As for this year, Wiese is still brainstorming places to go. “I’m thinking about Orlando to visit an old friend,” says Wiese. As he ponders his plans he concludes:
“As long as there’s no question of “Who Let The Dogs Out”, I’m sure I’ll have a good time.”
