The Third Times a Charm

The Third Times a Charm

Every High School senior has that one decision to make. It is likely the biggest decision they have made thus far in their lives. For some it’s easy, for some it’s difficult. That decision is of course, where will I attend college? Anna-Gray Young had to make that decision not once, not twice, but three times.
Anna-Gray is now a junior at The University of Mississippi majoring in Journalism. She, like other students who attends Ole Miss, has found a home. “I love the Grove on game days and I also like bike riding the trails off of Coliseum. And come on, who doesn't like the square?” It is a perfect fit now, but it wasn’t long ago when Anna-Gray would have never imagined herself in Oxford.
Growing up in Pass Christian Mississippi, Anna-Gray wanted to go far away from home. She originally was supposed to attend The University of Colorado. “I wanted to experience something different, and go far away. I love the mountains and really enjoy skiing.” Her parents had another idea in mind. On the day of her high-school graduation, they told her that Colorado was too expensive. They gave her the choice to attend LSU or Ole Miss. Anna-Gray chose LSU, since she is a legacy there.
Turns out LSU wasn’t a match for Anna-Gray. “The campus and classes are huge, and it is way too hot there!” Also, LSU doesn’t have required freshman housing, so Anna-Gray had to live in an apartment with a bunch of strangers. “It was hard to be off campus during my freshman year. Plus my roommates were messy and I was always cleaning up after them.”
Anna-Gray transferred to Ole Miss after her first semester at LSU. She realizes what it is like to be on the right side of the fierce rivalry. “I am an LSU legacy, but I cannot stand them!”
It took some time, but Anna-Gray found the school where she belongs. “I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else, I love it here.”
